2 2 Most popular languages in Europe The Europe Union has 23 official languages. They are: Bulgarian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Irish, Italian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Maltese, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Slovak, Slovene, Spanish and Swedish. The most popular languages are German, French and English The most spoken language is German. Europe also has more than 60 indigenous regional and minority languages

3 3 European Day of Languages Every year, 26 September is the day we celebrate Europe’s rich linguistic heritage. The first European day of languages was held in 2001 Brussels will host International Language Days on 8 and 9 March 2013 at the Square-Brussels Meeting Centre.

4 4 Lingua show Lingua Show, one of the biggest international language and education fairs in Europe This year it takes place in the Czech Republic from 14th to 16th March 2013. The main theme of this year's Lingua Show is life- long education

5 5 Communication devices The most popular is Facebook Also people use Twitter, Tumblr, Skype etc

6 6 EU countries There are 27 countries in EU EU is an economical and political union Belgium, France, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Germany founded the European Coal and Steel Community Dutch, French, German and Italian were first working and official languages in EU Estonia joined the EU in 2004 6

7 7 Comenius project Comenius project is European Union educatioanl project Project was named after John Amos Comenius The theme of this years Comenius project is Your European Key to the World In this years Comenius project are Estonia, Italy, Turkey, Finland, Germany and Netherlands Similar project for University students is Erasmus 7
