Definition Alcoholism, also known as alcohol use disorder, and generally refers to alcohol addiction, which is the compulsive and uncontrolled consumption of alcoholic beverages.

What is an alcoholic? An alcoholic is a man or a woman that have a distinct physical desire to consume alcohol beyond their capacity to control it, regardless of all rules of common sense.

Early age alcohol use Today, the average age a Colombian girl has her first drink near 13; for a boy 11. Young people who drink are more likely to be the victims of violent crime, to be involved in alcohol- related traffic accidents, and to have depression and anxiety.

Things that get a teenager into the alcoholism

Genetics A kid with an alcoholic parent is more likely to develop a problem with alcohol at young age than someone without him.

For the acceptation of the society Teenagers who believe alcohol makes it easier to socialize, for example, tend to drink more than those who don’t believe that alcohol loosens their social inhibitions.

Gender Men are more likely to drink heavily than women, but women become addicted at lower levels and shorter duration of use.

Memory loss Also called amnesia, happens when a person loses the ability to remember information and events they would normally be able to recall.

Hypertension Is a chronic medical condition in which the blood pressure in the arteries is elevated.

Fatigue Is a subjective feeling of tiredness which is distinct from weakness, and has a gradual onset.
