How Can You Use Connections? In your writing, you can use connections to help you to improve your ideas. Making connections allows us to visualize what has happened in the book. Making connections allows us to develop a better understanding of the characters’ feelings and attitudes. Making connections helps us to link the events in the book to reality.

Using Connections in Your Writing When you begin to write about stories, you can use connections in several ways: You can compare and contrast the events in the book you are reading to another book, yourself, and the world. You can make intelligent guesses about what motivates the characters, and explain and describe the characters’ choices. You can visualize the setting and add description to your writing.

In your response, add your thoughts about what your classmate has posted. Have you had an experience like this that you can share? Have you read something or heard something on the news or in history class that sounds similar?
