EARLY LIFE Born August 6, 1928 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Took up drawing and photography at the age of 8 His father put his entire life savings towards Warhol’s education Attended the Carnegie Institute for Technology Started his career as a commercial illustrator for magazines Time Magazine cover designed by Warhol in 1984

POP ART This style of art was debuted by Warhol in the late 1950’s Campbell's Soup I (1968) “My idea of a good picture is one that's in focus and of a famous person.” -Andy Warhol Marilyn (1967) Nine Jackies (1964)

OTHER ARTWORK In addition to his paintings, Warhol was known for his sculptures, prints, films and involvement in the music industry.

INFLUENCES Warhol was influenced by artist Salvador Dali. Both described as being “radical”. Dali also used a variety of mediums such as painting, sculpture and film.

IMPACT Even though he believed “In the future, everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes”, that did not apply to him. Major influence to pop artists today Started the idea that things of modern life could be art The Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh is the largest museum dedicated to a single artist.
