Canada’s immigration quota is approximately – per year ( in 2012) The quota set each year depends on: population growth rate economy demand for family reunification international events (# of refugees – 10% of total)

Economic Immigrants (62.4%)
TYPES OF IMMIGRANTS Economic Immigrants (62.4%) 2 groups who must go through the points system (skilled [67 pts] & business [35 pts]) business immigrants must have a net worth of between $ $ can contribute to the country’s economic prosperity (establishing a business, buying a business, making an investment that creates jobs for Canadians)

Family Immigrants (25.2%) family members already in Canada can sponsor immigrants if 19 or older and can prove they are financially capable Refugee Immigrants (9%) displaced people who flee for their lives due to political or cultural reasons ( /yr)
