Lodz is one of the most important cultural centers in Poland. This powerful nineteenth-century industrial metropolis is once again one of the fastest growing cities in the country. Time of great prosperity of the industry is also a period of cultural revival. Lodz has interesting and varied cultural heritage. It is represented most of all by extensive museum collections, among the best are: the Museum of Fine Arts, the International Artists' Museum, Lodz Kaliska and Film Form Workshop. Lodz is also famous for its artistic avant-garde, whose activities are reflected widespreadly in Poland and throughout the world. Lodz is primarily the city of festivals. The largest of these include the Festival of Dialogue of Four Cultures, Camerimage and Lodz Biennale. Despite of the large amount of periodic cultural events every year there are more, mainly in the fields of film, contemporary art and music. Lodz - capital of culture

The history is interwoven with the present: past factory buildings next to modern art galleries and lofts coexist with the nineteenth century brick houses districts - former workers' settlements - corners full of climate. Lodz – yesterday

Lodz is experiencing a second youth. The city again, like years before, attracts crowds of investors from home and abroad. Worldwide well-known companies such as Dell, Gillette, Merloni, Coca-Cola, Metro AG and LG Group set up their activities in Lodz, with extensive scientific and technical specialized staff, recruited mainly from the graduates of several Lodz universities. Within several years, near Lodz, there will be a main cross of highways A1 (North-South) and A2 (West-East). Constantly expands the Airport Wladyslaw Reymont. Lodz – business center

Manufaktura - the largest shopping- service and entertainment centre in Poland and one of the largest in Europe. It was established in the areas of the nineteenth-century weaver empire of Israel Poznanski, one of the largest manufacturers of Lodz. Dominated by old buildings with red bricks that have been completely refurbished inside. This is a very successful example of revitalization activities popular in the industrial cities - to keep the urban atmosphere of the past with the modern use of the building. Aquapark FALA Aquapark Fala is currently the largest water park in Poland. The complex comprises 4 internal swimming pools, pipes, 5 saunas, relaxation room with heated beds and a huge eight-meter-long jacuzzi. In summer days outdoor attractions tempt consisting of three pools, beach with deck chairs and a huge playground for children.

Lodz - city of green Lovers of flora and fauna are invited for example to a zoo and a botanical garden, a palm house and several parks. Lagiewniki Park, the largest European forest complex placed within city limits, encourage for activite leisure. The Lodz Botanical Garden is the largest in Poland - occupies an area of 64 hectares. An integral part of the Botanical Garden is the Palm House located in the Zrodliska Park.

Piotrkowska Street – the most representative street of the city, one of the longest shopping streets in Europe. Buildings, institutions, restaurants and hundreds of clubs and pubs located in the vicinity of the street currently make a special atmosphere of the "cult" character, reaching far beyond Lodz. Lodz by night Rich nightlife of Lodz attracts fans of good fun and great atmosphere. Numerous clubs offer entertainment for those who like to listen to good music or to dance. Furthermore, there are lots of cafes and pubs in the city, where you can spend time in nice air. One of the most famous clubs is Lodz Kaliska, created by the neo-artistic group of the same name. The club is also used as the art gallery. They organize concerts, exhibitions, films overviews and performances as well.

Lodz – in the future A project of revitalization or creation of a new city center has just begun. It includes adaptation of a former power station and construction of a modern underground railway station. The new center will live art - cultural institutions will be placed there with a modern building of the Special Zone of Art. Lodz aims to win the title of the European Capital of Culture 2016. There are in progress many activities supporting cultural development as well as heavy promotional campaigns.
