Steps involved in developing a Career Portfolio Step 1: Collect Gather as much information as possible from a variety of sources Step 2: Select Relevance, what is important to you, think about why you want to include certain items, do them demonstrate your learning, skills or abilities Step 3: Reflect Explanation, justification, proof, etc. Remember: Each grade at Vanier Collegiate has a portfolio requirement.

Action Plan Decision-making Process: Level A – Extend Knowledge Base 1. Reflect on what you know about the issue. 2. Research the issue. Find the facts. Level B – Make an Informed Decision 3. State the challenge. Explore the alternatives and consequences. 4. Make a decision. Set a personal goal. Level C – Carry Out Action Plan 5. Design and apply an action plan. 6. Evaluate progress. Action Plan Handout Creating an Action Plan for your goals Things to remember: All components must be complete – use the checklist as a guide Resume Cover letter Update your Graduation Checklist Update your Volunteer Section Goals (next four years – create your own) Action plan for two goals 2 Additional Items The checklist must be submitted with the portfolio with the student section complete. You are more than welcome to add more items that what is on the list. REMEMBER – DO NOT FORGET TO REFLECT!
