5. BACKGROUND INFO Jews were mainly targeted, because Hitler wanted to create an Aryan race. Aryan race- pure blooded, blonde-haired and blue- eyed Germanic people. He targeted Jews and other "Undesirables", because of his dream of having a German empire purified of other ethnic groups. The planned extermination was called the "Final Solution"; the S.S. 7. WHAT CAUSED IT TO END? Troops from the Soviet Union and the U.S. discovered the concentration and death camps, liberating all the prisoners still alive. They also took many S.S. In charge of the camps, as well as German citizens from surrounding towns and forced them to bury the dead in the camps. There were occasions in which Allied soldiers shot the S.S. Camp operators or allowed the prisoners to get their revenge.
