3 OBJECTIVE By the end of this topic, student should be able to: - Define computer casing. - Determine type of computer casing. - List down the example for each part of computer case. - List down three factors influenced the computer case design.

4 Casing also called system is a box like case that contains electronic components of the computer. Type of casing design : 1. Desktop 2. Tower (Mini Tower, Mid Size Tower, Full Size Tower) Type Of Casing

5 DESKTOP  Desktop is designed so that the system unit fit entirely on/under a desk table.  In some models, the monitor sits on top of system unit, which is placed on top of the desk.

6 Desktop Advantages: Excellent desk computer. Space Disadvantages: Difficult to upgrade Does not really work on the floor. Recommendations: Excellent choice for a business and home user computer.

7 TOWER Most of the casing now using a tower style. This design enables the system unit to sit on the floor vertically.

8 MINI TOWER Advantages: Excellent size which can be placed on top or below of a computer desk. Disadvantages: While this case does offer upgradability, it can be filled up much faster than the Mid- Sized tower. Recommendations: Great PC for end-users and small businesses.

9 MID-SIZE TOWER Advantages: Excellent case which can fit below and on top of your computer desk. Plenty of expandability for new devices for businesses, end-users, and advanced users. Disadvantages: None Recommendations: This case is an excellent choice for all users and businesses.

10 FULL-SIZED TOWER Advantages: Excellent computer for upgradability. Excellent case for a server machine. Disadvantages: Cost is going to be a lot more than a standard case. Generally a large case which cannot be placed on top or beneath a desk. Recommendations: We recommend that this type of case be purchased by advanced users or users who plan to have a stand alone machine as a server.
