EUROMARINE Integration of European Marine Research Networks of Excellence VISIT OUR WEBSITE: www.euromarineconsortium.eu PROJECT OBJECTIVES Integrate EUR-OCEANS, MarBEF and Marine Genomics Europe) into a common framework Create synergies between different scientific fields Create an internationally competitive marine network Exploit knowledge within EuroMarine to address questions related to the functioning of marine ecosystems and the needs of society Create a 21 st century marine scientist, with deep knowledge in one discipline and basic “fluency” in several others METHODOLOGY To launch “The EuroMarine Consortium” over the next 18 months To develop new interdisciplinary education programs to train the next generation of marine scientists Provide a website with project information To create a strategic framework for identification of research priorities, innovative, development and funding Create a better proactive representation of the scientific community in policy and decision making at national and international levels THE (EXPECTED) RESULTS Improved use of European research potential Increased shared use of European infrastructures Creation of centers of learning and education at international level To ensure Europe remains competitive and at the leading edge in marine sciences worldwide. CONTACT US: Coordinator Mike Thorndyke University of Gothenburg info@euromarineconsortium.eu THE CHALLENGE Many marine research questions require a multidisciplinary approach to address the marine environment from the molecular to the ecosystem level. The challenge of EuroMarine is to bring marine sciences into this integrated multidisciplinary perspective of the 21 st century.
