Background  In addition to the MSBU tentative rate adoption, the board is presented with the franchise hauler rates.  Currently, we are in the last year of the existing 7-year contracts.  2016 collection service contract has yet to be awarded.  2016 collection service procurement is under protest. 7

Background The board will select one of three options for service: – Option 1: 2-1-1 service, manual collection – Option 2: 2-1-1 service, automated collection – Option 3: 1-1-1 service, automated collection  When the board makes its selection for service, the hauler compensation rates will be set by the franchise agreements. 8

9. Requested Action Staff recommends that:  The tentative MSBU rate be held constant at $235 per household for calendar year 2016  The hauler compensation rates for 2016 service be set by the franchise agreements 9
