3. Good News for Every Russian The сapital of winter Olympic and Para Olympic games 2014 is named Sochi. Such decision was declared in Guatemala where the 119-th session of the International Olympic Committee (МОК) was held. In the list of the candidate cities there were Austrian Salzburg and Korean Pyongyang.

4. Why in Sochi? Why Sochi? It is very easy to answer this question. In fact Sochi has an ideal climate for winter sports. It is located in the mountainous area. The Caucasus mountains are covered with snow and suit perfectly for skiing, bobsleighing, snowboarding. At the bottom of the mountains lies picturesque coast of the Black Sea with wonderful beaches, delightful landscapes, modern resorts and plenty of entertainment. People here are friendly, cheerful, helpful and hospitable. The area of Sochi is rich in fruit trees. That’s why tourists can enjoy fresh fruit and vegetables all the year round.

5. I love Sochi!!! I love Sochi!!! Have you ever seen night Sochi? If not, come and do it by all means. The fact is night Sochi, looks smashing. It wakes up anew and invites visitors to plunge into a life of the glittering city, breathe in its friendly chilling out sea air. It is better to see and fall in love once with this city for ever. Seeing is believing. Make friends with pretty symbols of the future Olympic games. Snezhik is one of them.

6. We did it! We won! We deserve it! It was not the first time when Sochi tried to join in struggle for hosting Olympiad. In 1994 the application for organizing games 2002 in the city of Sochi was sent to IOC.The idea was supported at the state level, however the application of the Russian city-candidate did not reach the final because of the conflict in the Chechen Republic. Let's remind, Russia only once hosted Olympiad: in 1980 XXII Olympic Games and then the USSR Olympic team won the first place in command offset, having won in total 195 awards, 80 of them were gold. The subsequent attempts to win the right to host Summer Olympiad of 2012 in Moscow was not crowned with success. As to winter Olympic Games they have never been held in our country before. That’s why we are totally proud of the fact that our city of Sochi will open new era in the history of Russian sport.

7. Symbols of Olympiad. Symbols of Olympiad. The symbol of 2014 Olympic Games was chosen by citizens of Sochi. It is a dolphin on skis. The second place at competition according to results of voting was given to a polar bear. Other participants of competition were images of a snowflake and Father Frost. Voting took place on the 2nd of March in all voting areas of the city. 270 thousand people voted for the dolphin. But final competition will be held by the organizing committee “Sochi 2014”.
