Keep up your grades. Start researching colleges you are interested in, entrance requirements and programs of study. Start talking to college reps in career center. University bound- Prepare/register for SAT/ACT. Very important to do before senior yr. Sat II Subject tests. Register with NCAA for athletic recruitment. Continue Scholarship search. Update your resume.

On the job training for learning a skill or trade, while taking classes. Usually 3-5 years in length. Over 800 occupations available: electricians, roofers, carpenters, etc. Get info from Mrs. Ward, your counselor, or explore www.azwaca.org.www.azwaca.org

Community Colleges offer a wide range of occupational/educational avenues. Some students start at a CC to then transfer to a University to receive a bachelors degree. Some students receive certificates of completion or Associate’s degrees. There are many vocational programs offered in a wide range of areas.

Explore career and educational options through each of the branches. Meet with a representative from each of the branches in which you have interest. Meet with your counselor or Mrs. Ward in the career center to get in contact with a rep.

Start researching Universities you are interested in:entrance req.,majors,tuition, etc. Start searching for scholarships. Keep up your grades. Visit colleges. Prepare/Register for SAT/ACT by spring of this year. Attend Regional College Fair & Financial Aid Night Sept. 18 th @ DRHS from 6:30-8:30pm. Athletes register with the NCAA to be eligible for scholarships, apply @ www.ncaa.org.www.ncaa.org

Arrange for References prior to applying. Practice interviewing techniques. Attend job fairs. Create/update your resume.

Look at your purple handout: sample resume. All resumes are different. What is your objective for the resume, create it around that. Start filling out your sample resume. Log into www.azcis.intocareers.org and create your resume. Username & password on your worksheet.www.azcis.intocareers.org Your resume is due to your English teacher in one week!!!

Meet with your Counselor if you have any questions or concerns. Utilize Open door counseling during lunch hours: 4 th hour 10:30-11am 5 th hour 12-12:30 pm Remember Junior Year is about preparation. This presentation will be available on Highland’s website for you to reference.
