Customer NeedsEngineering SpecificationsStatus and description Cigarette holder does not alter the smoking behavior or manner in which the smoker smokes the cigarette The survey shows possible improved usability from the previous prototype with an alpha of 0.10 Survey showed a neutral response to ability to smoke normally and light the cigarette Cigarette Holder will not hinder the act of lighting the cigarette Cigarette holder is ergonomic. For example it is lightweight and feels like holding a cigarette. Survey shows possible improved ergonomics of mouthpiece from previous prototype with an alpha of 0.10 Survey shows improvement of ease of use of the hand piece at an alpha of 0.10 Cigarette holder will support the cigarette independent of the user Cigarette holder should hold cigarette less than 12mm in depth (not cover vent holes) Cigarette holder holds cigarettes with a depth of 8.89mm Cigarette holder can handle a wide range of cigarettes including electronic cigarettes Cigarette holder holds cigarettes with a diameter range of 7.5-9.5 mm Cigarette holds a variety of cigarettes with a cone shape holder Cigarette holder includes a flow path with and orifice plate to measure flow rate Orifice Plate supports a flowrate ranging 30-60m/sec Orifice plate accurately calculates flow rate from 0 to 70 ml/sec Cigarette holder encompasses the pressure sensor for the flow rate measurements Pressure sensor is located in the hand piece Pressure sensor must have an operating pressure of at least 0-2in of H20 The operating pressure of the pressure sensor is 0 to 2in of H2O Cigarette holder has room for all wireless electronic components needed to record and transmit the signal to the base unit and support any additional desired indicator lights The hand piece has 2 space voids of 0.45 x 1.25 x 1.125 in Hand piece design has 2 space voids for wireless components of 0.4 X 1.25 X 1.125 in Cigarette holder transmits a pressure signal by wire to the base unit or an external fixture for testing There is 1 wire bundle that connects the mouthpiece to the belt pack A wire connects the hand piece to a computer for analysis

Cigarette holder and base unit are easy to maintain by the user. For example there is an easy way to store the holder to avoid loss. There is a comfortable way to attach the base unit to the user the hand piece is attached to the belt pack when not in use Slide attachment added to base unit design for hand piece and electronic cigarette adaptor The final design includes ergonomic considerations, and potentially improved solution for the chest band to enhance wearability The new design improves of makes no impact on the chest band ergonomics through survey with an alpha of 0.10 Surveys show that the new shirt design of the chest band is more ergonomic with an alpha of 0.10 The chest band should only need to be calibrated 1 time for the use for a week Tests show repeatability of chest band use Base unit housing size is minimal yet has room for all wireless components. Preferably the size is no bigger than a cell phone The belt pack is no larger than an average cell phone Belt pack is slightly larger than an average cell phone, however this is a function of the space needed by FSI to implement electronics The user will be willing to use the system for a week long study Survey shows users is willing to use the system while smoking for a week with an alpha of at least 0.1 Surveys show that the user is willing o use the device for a week with an alpha of 0.10 ( p value of 0.004) Only Specification and Customer Need not met due to FSI required space!

Future Work The current device is ready for wireless integration with FSI Systems inc. The team recommends two led lights be added to the hand piece to indicated transmitting data and battery life The team recommends the battery in the hand piece to be rechargeable The team recommends further chest band development The team recommends further software improvements
