2 Introducing Oxford Oxford’s remarkable global appeal continues to grow. More than a hundred and thirty nationalities are represented among a student population of over eighteen thousand. Almost a quarter comes from outside the United Kingdom.

3 The Structure of the University Oxford is an independent and self-governing institution, consisting of the central University and the Colleges.

4 Oxford Church Enjoy a sightseeing bus tour to Oxford, Stratford, and Warwick Castle from London, England - at SUPER SAVER rates when you book and take your tour from July through October, 2008! Visit one of the grandest colleges of all, Christ Church. Many of the scenes in the Harry Potter feature films were shot in various locations of the college and the Great Hall was replicated in the film studios to create Hogwart's Hall.

7 Oxford Colleges The University has 38 independent and self- governing colleges, and 6 permanent private halls. The collegiate system is at the heart of the University’s success, giving students and academics the benefits of belonging to both a large, internationally renowned institution and to a small, interdisciplinary academic community.

10 Oxford Libraries The Bodleian Library, the University’s main research library, is over 400 years old and is globally acknowledged to be one of the greatest libraries in the world. Its priceless collections include the papers of six British Prime Ministers; a Gutenberg Bible; the earliest surviving book written wholly in English; a quarter of the world’s original copies of the Magna Carta; and almost 10,000 western medieval and renaissance manuscripts.

12 Oxford Museum The Ashmolean Museum, established in 1683, is the oldest museum in the UK and one of the oldest in the world. It houses the University’s extensive collections of art and antiquities, ranging back over four millennia. The Museum of the History of Science is housed in the world’s oldest surviving purpose-built museum building. It contains the world’s finest collection of historic scientific instruments.

16 A classic Oxford activity is to walk up the west side of the Meadow, have a pint at the Perch, and then continue up north for another pint and some roasted chestnuts and mulled wine at the Trout Inn in Wolvercote.

17 Funding sourced through the Oxford Sports Trust has enabled the activity of Disc Golf to expand in Northland. Sport Northland’s District Coordinators now have a portable set each to loan the equipment to schools, workplaces and community groups.
