Christmas Truce
2
1914, during the 1 st world war, Britain and their friends were at war with the Germans. The Germans were on one side and Britain and their allies were on the other side. They were separated by no mans land.
3
Both sides had to live in trenches for months and months. They were cold, muddy and wet.
4
One cold Christmas, both sides decided to come out of their trenches and stop fighting. This is called a truce. They exchanged gifts, for example drinks, chocolates and cigarettes.
5
Someone, (possibly a Scotsman) had a football. They played a game of football and the Germans won 3-2.
6
Now we are going to show you a video and then we are going to act out the Christmas Truce.
