The Rules of geocaching Sign the logbook If you take and item, leave an item Replace the container to its original position Log your find at www.geocaching.com Guidelines in hiding a geocache: Adequate permission from the land owner Observe and obey all local laws Items that should never be placed in a geocache Cache saturation Prohibitions of hiding a geocache: Buried or destruction of the natural environment Defacement of public or private property Placement in areas that are: Sensitive to extra traffic (archaeological or historical sites, cemeteries) Are in close proximity of active railroads On or near military installations On or near public structures deemed potential or possible targets for terrorist attacks (highway bridges, dams, government buildings, schools, and airports)
