Circumcision of the Flesh Commanded by God. Sign of God's covenant with Abraham. (Gen 17:9-11) Seal of the righteousness of the faith of Abraham. (Rom 4:11) Meaningless if the person did not obey the commands of God. (Rom 2:25-29)

Circumcision of the Flesh Covenant was fulfilled in Jesus Christ. The covenant between God and Abraham was confirmed in Christ. (Gal 3:16-18) Under the new covenant of Jesus Christ, physical circumcision is no longer bound. (Col 2:14; Gal 5:1-6)

Circumcision Required by God A circumcision not made with hands. (Col 11-12) “circumcision not made with hands” is the “circumcision of Christ.”

Circumcision Required by God The “circumcision of Christ” is the circumcision of the heart seen throughout the scriptures. Moses to the first generation led out of Egyptian captivity. “Therefore circumcise the foreskin of your heart, and be stiff-necked no longer.” (Deut 10:16)

Moses to the second generation before they entered the land of Canaan. “And the LORD your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your descendants, to love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, that you may live.” (Deut 30:6)

Foreskin of the heart must be removed. “Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.” (Pro 4:23) “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.” (Matt 12:35)

Circumcision Required by God Circumcision of the heart results in the following... Putting on... tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering, bearing with one another, and forgiving one another. (Col 3:12-13) love, which is the bond of perfection. (Col 3:14)

Circumcision Required by God When a person undergoes the circumcision of the heart, the circumcision of Jesus Christ, he will put away, he will cast off, he will overcome the various desires of the flesh and of the world. He will seek first the will of God. He will seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.

Conclusion This circumcision of the heart is a circumcision of choice. No person will undergo the circumcision of his heart against his will. Each person must willingly submit himself to Jesus Christ and His word. Each person must willingly repent and turn to Jesus Christ. Each person must count the cost. (Luke 14:25-33)

Conclusion Are you willing to become a child of God? Are you willing to make the necessary changes in your life? Are you willing to circumcise your heart, cutting away the desires and love of the world? If so, then let us help you to turn your life to Jesus Christ through obedience to the gospel's call unto salvation.
