One-Stop-Shopping for Mission Critical D38999 Type Connectors
Our focus is on the supply of high-performance versions of D38999. We are able to respond quickly without dollar and quantity minimums. We are the go-to company for all the associated connector accessories. We are experts at hybrid fiber/copper configurations. Our Sav-Con® and Feed-thru expertise is unmatched in the industry. Ditto for hermetics and EMI filters. We like to say we offer One-Stop Shopping for interconnect solutions. This is very much the case when it comes to high-performance variants of MIL-DTL Glenair is focused on manufacturing and supplying those connector products which solve significant interconnect problems, such as the suppression of EMI with filter connectors or the reduction of weight with lightweight composites. In addition, we staff and manage our organization to respond quickly to customer requests for everything from a simple quote to connector application engineering. And we do it all without expensive dollar and quantity minimums. As mentioned, Glenair is the go-to company for all the associated mil-spec connector accessories. This breadth is a big advantage when designing complicated interconnect cables and assemblies—another Glenair specialty. We are also experts at hybrid optical fiber/copper configurations and can offer customers numerous solutions for integration of optical media. Our Sav-Con® and Feed-thru expertise is also unmatched in the industry. In fact, we now offer more connector go-betweens and bulkhead feed-through products based on the D38999 specification than anyone else in the business. Ditto for hermetic and EMI filterered connectors.

Small Quantity Custom Packaging
Specialty shell materials and platings. All D38999 configurations - bayonet, breach-lock and threaded. Hybrid contact integration. In-house hermetic and EMI filtering capabilities. Testing and qualification capabilities. Broad coverage of available contact layout densities and sizes. The ability to respond QUICKLY to small quantity custom packaging requirements distinguishes Glenair from larger D38999 connector suppliers that focus mainly on large quantity orders and standard duty D38999 plugs and receptacles. At Glenair, we focus more on the specialized variants of D38999 such as filters and fiber optics. We offer the full range of material types and platings, including composite thermoplatic shells and our 1000 Hour Grey Nickel-PTFE plating. We offer both qualified and commercial versions of Series I, II, III and IV hermetics and can develop custom solutions using any of these coupling technologies. As many systems require both signal, power, fiber and hybrid contact integration into single-connector packages, Glenair has developed both standard catalog and custom designed solutions for mixed contact integration. Our machining, molding, hermetic firing and filter array capabilities are all in-house, with all the people and equipment necessary to deliver on our fast-turnaround promise.

Definition of a Hermetic Connector
Permanently sealed by fusion or other means to prevent the transmission of air, moisture vapor, and all other gases. (Made airtight by fusion or sealing) Hermeticity is usually expressed as the rate of leakage volume of helium per second in time Glass-to-metal seal technology is used to provide a robust hermetic seal between a metal conductor and a metal body. The glass also acts as an insulator between the body and the pins. Complete isolation of all elements between two environments Let’s start with a basic definition of what a hermetic connector is. Hermetic connectors are made airtight by a thermal glass fusion or polymer sealing process which prevents the transmission of air, moisture vapor, and gases through the connector body. Hermeticity is usually expressed as the rate of leakage volume of helium per second in time There are a number of available methodologies, but the vitreous glass-to-metal seal technology is considered to provide the most robust hermetic seal between the metal conductor or contact and the connector shell body. In addition to providing this hermetic seal, the glass also acts as an electrical insulator between the body and the pins.

Glenair D38999 Type Sav-Cons®
Rugged Connector Go-Betweens Available for D38999 Series I, II and III One-piece feed-through contact Pin/Socket, Pin/Pin, and Socket/Socket Suitable for flight use - meets the same specifications as the mating connector Easily installed into existing systems Filter and/or environmental Aluminum, Stainless, or other material Always specify optional locking mechanism for Series I and II Connector savers, or go-betweens, are designed to reduce potential wear and tear suffered by connectors subject to rough handling or frequent mating and de-mating cycles. Suitable for flight use, sav-cons meet the same performance specifications as the mating connector. Common uses include protecting receptacle connectors on black-box electronic systems during their test-out phase so that the equipment can be delivered to the customer with the minimal number of spent mating cycles. The space industry uses Sav-Cons to insure deliverable connectors are fully protected from damage during pre-flight testing. Glenair manufactures sav-con connectors for virtually every circular mil-spec type connector in use today. And of course we produce a complete family of parts for the for Series I, II and III. Sav-Cons use a one-piece feed-through contact which can be specified in Pin/Socket, Pin/Pin, and Socket/Socket configurations. The products are easily installed into existing systems and can be specified in Filtered as well as the more standard environmental versions.

D38999 Type Bulkhead Feed-Throughs
Jam nut, flange mount Pin/Socket, Pin/Pin, and Socket/Socket Suitable for flight use - meets the same specifications as the mating connector Hermetic or environmental Aluminum, Stainless, Titanium 38999 Series I, II, and III Accommodates several panel thicknesses Bulkhead Feed-thrus provide an interconnect pathway for wiring systems that must penetrate a physical barrier, such as a structural bulkhead on a ship or military vehicle. The bulkhead feed-thru connector is designed to prevent any environmental ingress through the penetration. They are available with standard environmental or hermetic seals. These connectors are supplied in either Jam nut or square flange mount configurations in Pin/Socket, Pin/Pin, and Socket/Socket contact genders. Like Sav-Con connector savers, the Glenair type Bulkhead Feed-Thru is perfectly Suitable for flight use and meets the same specifications as the mating connector The connectors are offered in Aluminum, Stainless steel and Titanium shells. The Series IV Breech-Lock connector is not considered to be an appropriate coupling style for bulkhead applications. Therefore, Glenair offers its D38999 type solutions Series I, II, and III. One element of the bulkhead feed-thru application that deserves special focus is panel thickness. Most of the standard catalog products are designed to accommodate panel thicknesses from 1/8th of an inch to ½ of an inch. But Glenair is also able to offer special catalog versions, such as our series part that accommodate panels up to 2 inches. Other special purpose bukhead feed-thrus include gender changers and unique plug/receptacle feed-thrus.
