All verbs in a sentence must have matching verb tenses -ed Margaret was sitting nervously drumming her fingers. The –ing ending denotes events ongoing or happening in the present. All verbs in a sentence must have matching verb tenses -ing

Regular/Irregular Verbs Basic forms of a verb are: Present Present participle Past Past participle A verb is regular when its past and past participle are formed by adding –ed. A verb is irregular when its past and past participle are formed in some other way.
