3 Classroom Capture @ Umass Overview Classroom Capture means recording your computer’s screen, with your audio synced with the on-screen action. Record PowerPoint slides, web pages, screen drawings, etc. Anything on your screen will be recorded. The audio of your lecture is recorded through a microphone and synced with the video. There is no live-action video of you, personally. Only your screen and your voice are recorded Watch a demo! Educational Technologies and Learning Commons

4 Hands On Camtasia Relay Log in using the same username and password that you use to check your Umass email If your email is “john.smith@umb.edu”, your username would be: “john.smith” Educational Technologies and Learning Commons

5 Hands On Camtasia Relay Fill in the Presentation Details ① Profile should be set to Basic Recording ② Please use the following naming convention when picking a title: [Lastname] - [Course name & number] Ex: Smith - English 101 ③ The description is optional ④ Make sure the Auto Audio Adjuster is on (marked green) Educational Technologies and Learning Commons ③ ② ① ④

7 Hands On Camtasia Relay After hitting stop on the recording window you cannot resume recording. If you wish to temporarily suspend recording, use the pause button After you stopping, you can ① Preview your finished recording ② Operate basic playback controls ③ Edit the front and end of recording ④ Finalize your profile, title or optional description ⑤ Click submit to upload your video Educational Technologies and Learning Commons ③ ② ① ④ ⑤

8 Hands On Camtasia Relay LIMITED Editing with Relay You can clip off footage from either end of your video by setting a new start and end point. Click and drag the playhead (green box), then click the new start point or new end point buttons (blue boxes) to set More complex editing can be done with Camtasia Studio. 9 Hands On Camtasia Relay Possessing and Uploading After clicking submit, your video will begin uploading. This may take a while, if you have a long recording. Consider bringing your laptop to your office, and plugging into power and internet, rather than trying to upload from the classroom. At this step, files can be lost. Be sure not to turn off your computer until the file has finished uploading. 10 Hands On Camtasia Relay Video Complete After your video uploads, it still needs to be processed by the server. This takes some time, and you will receive and email when complete Educational Technologies and Learning Commons The “View…” link is the public link to your presentation Copy it’s URL to your course wiki or Blackboard, or simply forward this whole email to your class.
