2 Warm up Look at the feedback from last week’s recording. Use the Dictionary link on the kweis.wikispaces.com site to listen to the words that Kristi marked on your paper. Listen to them and repeat. Use Vocaroo to record yourself if you’d like. OR Begin typing up or recording your presentation if you have not already.

3 NOTES BEST Testing – Today Pre-registration – Today and December 7. NO CLASS, next week Saturday, November 30 ESL Holiday Party at 9am on December 17.

4 Tentative Plan Nov 23, Week 12 – Consonants /t͡ʃ, d͡ʒ/, DynEd, & Presentations Nov 30 – No Class Dec 7, Week 13 – Presentations & DynEd ? Dec 14, Week 14 – Presentations & a Meal?

5 Unit 11 & 12 – p25-27 Unit 11 #3 – Test yourself. Which sound do you hear? Unit 12 #1 – Repeat these sentences.

6 Minimal Pair ‘Telephone’ practice 0 - three 1 - tea 2 - this 3 - dis 4 - fourth 5 - fort 6 - breath 7 - breed 8 - other 9 - otter

7 Unit 13 – p30 #1 – Listen & Repeat these words. How do you move your mouth to make these sounds? Do you have these sounds in your language? Look at the uiowa site to check how the sounds are made. #2 – Make a list of the words with the 4 different sounds. Practice saying those words with a partner. Ask and answer questions with a different partner. “Where would you usually…. #3 – Which words have the /ʒ/ sound? Listen & repeat these words. Say them to a partner and get feedback from your partner. #1 – Listen & Repeat these words. Record yourself saying the words in #1 with Vocaroo.

8 Before you go, remember… ESL Holiday party December 17 th at 9am – You are invited! Volunteers to present on December 7? No class next Saturday, November 30. Pre-registration – Does anyone want to pre- register today?

9 Individual Work Time DynEd - Clear Speech Works You may work on here or at home (after downloading DynEd) until 1/30/2014 You will need headphones and a microphone You must take the Placement Test the first time you log in. Record your voice and compare to the native speaker. Presentation If you plan to present please email me the plan of what you will say and record yourself in Audio Dropbox.

10 Presentation 1.Choose a topic to prepare. 2.Plan what you are going to say. Write it or type it and give a copy to Kristi. 3.Practice at home. Record yourself using Vocaroo or another tool (cell phone, voicemail) so you can hear yourself. Listen for stress, rhythm, and vowels. 4.Record yourself in the most recent Audio Dropbox (Week 12, Week 13, etc.) 5.After Kristi gives you feedback, repeat steps 3 and 4 from above. 6.Plan a time to present in front of the class before the end of the semester.

11 Record Yourself 1.Move to a computer away from other people. 2.Log into the computer. 3.Go to http://kweis.wikispaces.comhttp://kweis.wikispaces.com 4.Go to Week 12. 5.Record your presentation. 6.Remember to make sure it recorded and then click the green check mark to send it to me. 7.Email a copy of your presentation to weisenkm@matc.edu or give Kristi a copy. weisenkm@matc.edu 8.If you have extra time you may record a dialog or other practice words from today’s lesson and send it to me for feedback.
