A Battle or a Partnership? Too often, competitive clubs are perceived as independent from the leagues, and sometimes they are even perceived as “competitors.” In a tight market like Montreal, where fields are rare, for each practice field a competitive team uses, there are 2 league teams that don’t get to register (which is perceived as a loss of revenue). Every night a competitive team practices, it’s 20-24 good players that don’t sign up to the recreational league (loss of talent and calibre in the league).

OCUA Alliance Criteria for a Club to be part of the Alliance $12/player 1 alliance representative / 1 volunteer coordinator OCUA or Alliance logo on uniforms Volunteer hours in exchange for practice fields Advantages to be part of the Alliance Practice fields in exchange for volunteer hours Visibility on the OCUA website Tryouts administrative support (i.e. fields) and promotion Access to a group fund for projects First access to conferences All captains discuss as a group what is best for the comp teams Players are now “members” of OCUA
