Line Plots Objective: Display, Analyze, and interpret data using line plots.

A line plot is a diagram that shows the frequency of data on a number line. An “X” is placed above a number on a number line each time a number repeats.

Steps for making a Line Plot: Step 1: Write numbers from least to greatest. Step 2: Draw a number line. The smallest number is 10 and the biggest number is 29, so you can do a scale of 10-29. Step 3: Put an “X” above the number that it represents.

Example 1: Display Data in a Line Plot. The table shows the number of cars washed at each car wash held by a volleyball team. Number of Vehicles Washed 11, 29, 15, 28, 16, 29, 12,15, 10, 21, 25, 22, 15, 12, 15, 18, 11, 25. Make a line plot of the data….

Your Example: Make a line plot of the data. Monthly cell phone usage (in minutes): 35, 40, 45, 27, 30, 32, 25, 30, 35, 50, 27, 32, 31, 40, 32, 28, 45, 32, 40, 32. (Hint: First write numbers from least to greatest.)
