2 What is hypertension ? Hypertension is the condition in which the pressure of blood in your arteries is dangerously high.

3 History/Origin Descriptions of the disease first came from Thomas Young in 1808

4 Signs/Symptoms Usually no symptoms present, the disease can cause other diseases such as stroke and heart attack. Sometimes there are headaches, dizziness, shortness of breath and blurred vision. Ask your doctor how long the symptoms should occur before you should be concerned.

5 Factors Genetics play a part Environmental and lifestyle: smoking, obesity, and if a large portion of your diet consists of sodium.

6 Treatment/Managing the problem For treatment, you can; Exercise regularly Taking frequent medication Recommended weight loss Get support

7 Treatment/Management (continued) Massages to relieve stress Change in lifestyle Impact on the individual; Increases risk of more severe diseases 8 in every 100,000 people die from hypertension
