2.  Rome was founded by two twins named Romulus and Remus.  Their father was Mars (The God of war).  Their mother was Rhea Silvia.  They were kidnapped by their evil uncle Amulius and abandoned them on the River Tiber.

3.  As they flowed down the river a she-wolf picked them up and raised them for a few years.

4.  After Mars found them he asked them to build a city.  They started fighting over their ideas for the city and decided to fight to the death so that their problems would be solved.  In the end Romulus won and Remus was killed.  Rome was named after Romulus.

5.  The Colosseum is not only the biggest tourist attraction in not just Rome but all of Italy.  A restoration project costing 25 million euro started in Winter of 2011 and is set to end in Summer of 2014.

6.  The Vatican is the home and church of the Pope.  It has its own country called the Vatican City.

7.  Now this is a much darker part of Italian history  The Borgia Family were the most notorious family in Italian history

8.  The Borgia Family were known for endless murder, assault, bribery, fraud,thievery and even poisoning.  Even worse was that one of the members was the Pope.

9.  If you have been to Rome then you will know that the food is AMAZING!!!!!  The best food you can have is spaghetti and pizza.  Here is me having ice cream(next slide).
