2. Volunteers in Police Service The VIPS Program provides support and resources for agencies interested in developing or enhancing a volunteer program and for citizens who wish to volunteer their time and skills with a law enforcement agency.

3. Volunteers in Police Service VIPS is a partnership between the Bureau of Justice Assistance, Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice and the International Association of Chiefs of Police.

10. Since May 2002 … More than 2,050 law enforcement volunteer programs, representing more than 236,000 volunteers in all fifty states, have registered with the national VIPS Program. This includes 12 campus-based law enforcement agencies and more than 1,500 campus volunteers.
