Exports are items shipped out of your country.

Territory size shows the proportion of worldwide net exports of cars. Car exports make up 5.3% of all profit on international exports. What 2 countries export the most? Japan and Germany make 61% of all the net profits on car exports What are some Japanese car brands? Toyota, Nissan, Suzuki, Subaru, Honda, Mitsubishi and Mazda. What are some German car brands? Audi, BMW, Mercedes, VW, and Porsche.

Car Imports Territory size shows the proportion of worldwide net import of cars. What country imports by far the most cars? The U.S. alone buys 55% of all international car imports. Italy and the UK are the next 2 largest importers., but import less than a 1/6th of what the US does.

Toy Exports Territory size shows the proportion of worldwide net exports of toys that come from there. Toys, including sports equipment, make up 1% of worldwide exports. What region exports the most toys? More toys are exported from Eastern Asia than any other region.

Toy Imports Territory size shows the proportion of net imports of toys that are received there. Toys are fun, but not necessities. Toy imports give an indication of disposable incomes. Which country imports the most toys? Most imports of toys are to the U.S. Second is the U.K.

Clothing Exports Territory size shows the proportion of worldwide net exports of clothes. Which continent appears to export the most clothing? East Asia exports 5 times as many clothes as other regions. China exports more clothes than any other country. Thinking of your global scavenger hunt, does this seem accurate? Most clothes are made in territories where employers can pay cheap labor.

Clothing Imports Territory size shows the proportion of worldwide net imports of clothes that are received there. Which country and which continent import the most clothing? The U.S. imports the most clothing. Western Europe imports the most as a continent. What Asian country import a lot of clothing as well? Japan Despite the vast range of clothing styles around the world, there is a large international trade in clothes.

Electronics Exports Territory size shows the proportion of worldwide net exports of electronics. Electronics include TV, radio receivers, AV and DVD equipment, photography equipment and electronic medical equipment. Worldwide, electronic exports generate 10.2% of all money earned from trade in goods. What countries export the most electronics? Asian countries are the major world-supplier of electronics. In particular, Japan, China, Taiwan, and Malaysia. They supply 85% of electronic items. What continents don’t export electronics?

Electronics Imports Territory size shows the proportion of worldwide net imports of electronics. Before we even look at Electronic Imports, guess which country imports the most electronics. The U.S. is a major importer of electronics. Americans spend $47 billion per year on imported electronics. North American territories import almost half of all electronics worldwide. While many people use electronic items as part of their everyday life, others have very little contact with electronics. This is the case if someone has unreliable or no electricity.

Child Labor Territory size shows the proportion of worldwide child work force ages What two continents have by far the most child labor? The map shows that most child labor occurs in Africa and Southern Asia. What kinds of things do you think those children are making? Poverty Territory size shows the proportion of the world population living in poverty. Poverty is not just a financial state. Being poor includes lower life expectancy, lack of adult literacy, poor water quality and children who are underweight. What two continents have the most poverty? Africa and Asia

Undernourishment Territory size shows the proportion of all undernourished people worldwide. Anything surprising? From 1990 to 2000, the number of people in the world that lived on inadequate amounts of food increased from 840 million to 858 million. In Central Africa, 60% are undernourished. In the Democratic Republic of Congo 3 in every 4 are undernourished.

Living on less than $1 a day
Territory size shows the proportion of all people living on less than or equal to $1 (US) a day. What stands out? The largest population living $1 a day is in Southeast Asia – most of whom live in India.

Suicides Territory size shows the proportion of suicides worldwide.
In 2002, there were almost 900,000 self-inflicted deaths. The world average rate is 141 deaths per million people per year. Anything surprising here? The highest regional rate is Japan 245 deaths per million. Over half of the suicides worldwide were in China and India.
