2 The ancient Mayan's land is divided into two sections: the lowlands and the highlands in what is now southeastern Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, and El Salvador.

3 The Mayans ate tortillas made out of maize(corn) with lime. They were cooked on a flat They also ate squash, beans, and chile peppers.

4 The Mayans made there houses out of adobe bricks and had one central door. Their rooftops were thatched.

5 Mayan women wore a rectangular piece of cloth stitched on both sides called a huipil. Men wore a breechcloth (which is like a loincloth) with sleeveless shirts.

6 The Mayans Believed in about fifteen gods and goddess spoke the same language, and had a sense of rich and poor with clerics (people with the church) near the top.

7 The Mayans were the First to write books in central America. Also the Mayans and their ancestors have been drinking chocolate since about two thousand six hundred years ago. There are still Mayans living in Mexico and Belize.
