5 Induction Day Tuesday 7 th July 2015 9am-10:20am Children will be dropped off at their classroom (information shared in the email sent to you in the first 2 weeks of June) After a brief settling period you are invited to go to the upstairs hall where you can meet other parents and attend a briefing from the Assistant Headteacher, Governor, Catering Manager, Parent Forum, FROGS and Jump for Joy

6 The first week of school Children start Monday 7 th September 2015 at 8:50am 7 th September to 11 th September : 8:40am – 8:50am (soft start) until 12pm (no lunch)

7 Lunch Red Class : Wednesday 9 th September 2015 Blue Class : Thursday 10 th September 2015 Green Class : Friday 11 th September 2015 Parents invited for first lunch experience Arrive at 11:30am to lunch at 11:45am Payment ‘Lunch Special’ of £2.52 for parent Leaving at 12pm for all other days this week

8 The second week of school 14 th to 18 th September 2015 : half day plus lunch at school Drop off 8:40-8:50am for soft start Lunch may be packed lunch or school meal Collect 1:15pm Free school meals for all (more later)

9 From the third week of school September 21 st onwards : attend for full days Drop off for soft start : 8:40-8:50am Lunch at school School day ends 3:05pm – 3:10pm In certain cases alternative arrangements may be made upon agreement between school and parent/carer

10 Soft Start and Soft Finish Parents drop children to their classroom via classroom door Children arrive between 8:40am and 8:50am via gate 2 Registration 8:50am prompt Teacher/TA available in the classroom for quick message i.e. collection arrangements etc. Longer discussions with teacher should happen at the end of the day. Teachers can make calls home if requested Children collected from same door between 3:05pm and 3:10pm

11 Routines Arrive 8:40-8:50. Registration 8:50am prompt Mid-morning snack will be available Lunch 11:50am – 1:10pm Children may bring named plastic water bottles to school with non-spill top If your child has a packed lunch please bring an additional plastic water bottle

12 Routines Teacher must know who is picking the children up Any change in person collecting should be notified to class teacher and to the school office Late pick-up from the Cloud Room at the rear of the building from 3:20pm

14 Reception Curriculum Curriculum Statements on school website Teach Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum (2012) There are 7 areas of learning. Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Communication and Language, Physical Development, Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design.

15 Reception Curriculum As well as engaging in adult led focussed teaching tasks (carpet and small group sessions) children will spend time in free ‘play’. This play is nearly always planned for and follows on from an identified teaching point or specific area of learning. So when they come home and say ‘I just played today’ they will actually have been practising new skills and consolidating learning already introduced to them by teaching staff. 16 Universal Free School Meals for EYFS & KS1 Free school meals for all in EYFS & KS1 children Must still apply if you are eligible for FSM status Pupil Premium funding for the school is awarded according to this status lunch menu available on school website children supervised

17 Pupil Premium Funding for schools following UiFSM status awarded Benefits individuals and the school as a whole - funding for trips for cases of hardship - purchase of resources e.g. tablets, ipads, - appointment of TA to support individual/class FORMS AVAILABLE FROM OFFICE & IN PACK

18 Packed Lunches Packed lunches must be healthy Please do NOT include : sticky cake, chocolate bars, sweets, fizzy drinks Lunches should be in a named, sealed container

19 Medical Treatment Must know about any medical conditions – forms available this evening Medical room will hold any required medication : must be prescribed medication, clearly labelled, complete a consent form Medical checks at age five : hearing, sight, height and weight.

20 Asthma Change in legislation Emergency Asthma kit in school : consent form must be signed 1 inhaler and spacer to be provided from home for class medical bag

21 First Aid First aid administered in classroom and/or medical room Medical notes to be signed by parent/carer at end of school day Prescribed medication ONLY administered in school. Form must be completed and signed.

22 Absence Call the school office on the first and third day of absence Attendance target of 96% : Punctuality essential Attendance thresholds at 96%, 85%-96% and below 85% Education Welfare Officer Referral Exceptional Leave Punctuality

23 Attendance Monitoring According to thresholds : letters sent home which may result in a meeting being requested. End of each Half Term Referral to Educational Welfare Officer (EWO) if attendance is below 90%. May result in fine or court action. Late monitoring : Over 5 late arrivals to school in any half term will receive a letter and possibly invitation to meet

24 Online Systems Cashless School. All trips and items paid for via ParentPay (CatsGrin) Booking at Parent Consulations via ParentsEvening System. Please book appointment to meet with teachers on Thursday 3 rd or Friday 4 th September 2015 Please access your email regularly for school updates Newsletter posted on line at end of every month and paper copy sent home with eldest sibling

29 Trips 1 local walk : free of charge 1 paid trip per year : maximum cost of £20 per child Parent helpers Visitors in to school e.g. pedestrian training, emergency services etc.

30 Behaviour Policy EYFS Behaviour Policy in line with main school policy: Steps 1 to 3 of our Behaviour Policy are dealt with on an informal basis and will not be recorded formally on the child’s record. Steps 4 to 7 of our Behaviour Policy are dealt with on a formal basis and will form part of the child’s school record. Policies available on school website.

32 Summer Holidays Fulfill parental commitment to the school (Home/School agreement) by: Supporting development of increased independence when dressing, going to the toilet and eating a meal, basic skills & fine and gross motor skills Some work on letter and number recognition

34 Final Thought As parents, we are our children's primary educators. Research shows that children who have the most involvement from home go on to do better than those who don’t. It has a bigger impact than your financial or social situation and own educational background. Talking with your child is key. Providing life experiences and supporting independence is invaluable. 17-18% of learning takes place in school.
