Beats Movement defined The Beats generation originated in the 1940, in New York but boomed in San Francisco, in response to the gory of World War Two, the war affected the beats poets by making them question mainstream politics and cultures. These unique artists focused on challenging old fashion poetry by form a poetry that consists of a conscious form of writing. Along with their artistic skills, beat poets normally used hallucinates and alcohol to boost their articulate writing.

Gary Snyder  Gary Snyder was born in San Francisco, but his family moved to a farm outside of Seattle when he was two, and he grew up in the Pacific Northwest  In 1947 he enrolled in Reed College and shared a house with two other young poets, Philip Whalen and Lew Welch  In 1952 he moved to San Francisco and then rented a small cottage in Berkeley while he studied, and when he met Beat writers Allen Ginsberg and Jack Kerouac, his cottage became one of the hangouts for the young Beat movement.  He now teaches poetry half the year at the University of California at Davis and also lectures on ecology and the environment
