2. Fly Johannesburg to Tel Aviv – Ben Gurion Airport. Travel to Caesarea, visit the restored Amphitheatre, the remains of a Crusader Fortress and a Byzantine Street, visit the traditional site of Elijah’s sacrifice on Mount Carmel, also the site where Elijah had the confrontation with the Baal prophets. Visit the Church of Annunciation in Nazareth. Drive to the Sea of Galilee to the foot of Mount Tabor where Deborah and Barak defeated forces of Sisera, this is also believed to e the Mountain where Jesus ascended and, before the eyes o Peter, James and John, underwent the transfiguration; afterwards he was seen with Moses and the Prophet Elijah. Visit Tiberius, the town built by Herod Antipas to honour Tiberius Caesar and is considered one of the four Holy Cities of Judaism. Dinner and overnight. Visit the River Jordan and be baptised in it. This is Israel’s most important river, feeding the Sea of Galilee and the Dead Sea. Drive to Bethsaida, The house of the fisherman – the place where Jesus was active as a preacher and healer, where he healed the blind man.

3. Drive to Kursi, identified as the site of the miracle of the swine. Visit Capernaum, also known as the town of Jesus, where many of His miracles were performed. Here we also visit the ruins of a 2 nd century synagogue. Visit the Chapel of Mensa Christi – here Christ entrusted the ancient Church to Saint Peter. A small church commemorates this event. Continue the Mount of Beatitudes where Jesus preached His sermon on the Mount. Visit the site of the multiplication of the loaves and fishes, namely Tabgha. Drive to Yardinite where the Jordan River flows the from the Sea of Galilee. This spot marks the traditional place were John the Baptist baptized Jesus, and was developed as a Baptism area. Visit Jericho, the city Joshua destroyed. Here we visit Elijah’s fountain where he allowed the axe to float and sweetened the water. View the Mount of Temptation. Visit the Qumran caves, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. Visit the Dead Sea, lowest point of Earth.

4. At the Dead Sea you will have the opportunity to float in the salty mineral water. Visit Mount Masada and take a cable car to the top, where you will see the ruins of a Jewish fortress where 967 Jews committed suicide before surrendering to their Rom an besiegers. Visit the Mount of Olives, the place where Jesus wept whilst gazing over Jerusalem. Visit the Garden of Gethsemane where Jesus prayed the night before His crucifixion. Visit the house of Caiaphas or the Church of the Cockcrow, where Peter denied Jesus. Visit the upper room of the last supper and David’s tomb. Visit the old city of Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Steven’s gate, the bath of Bethesda, the Fortress of Antonio, the House of Pontius Pilate, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Follow the Via Dolorosa to the traditional Calvary with the Chapel where the crucifixion is said to have taken place.

5. Visit he Church of the Nativity, the Damascus gate, walk to the garden tomb. Visit the new Hebrew University and drive to the Israel Museum, where the Dead Sea Scrolls are being kept. Visit Yad Vashem, museum in memory of the 6 million Jews that suffered and died during the 2 nd World War Holocaust. Your tour will include a camel ride in Jericho, visits to popular markets for shopping and a trip on a glass bottom boat in Eilat. 2 Nights in Cairo, dinner on the Nile. 8. Tour price is R30 000-00 per person. Tour price is subject to current airfares and exchange rates at the time of compiling the tour. 11. Passports: If you are not in possession of a valid South African passport that is valid for 6 months from the date of departure, immediately apply for a valid passport. It takes about 6 – 8 weeks for the department of Home Affairs to issue a passport and the current cost is R450- 00. It is important to go through the terms and conditions on the registration form.
