5 Which of the Commandments on Loving God.. 1 Is against swearing? Is against horoscopes? Is for family? Is for satisfaction in life? Is against workaholics? Is for serious promises? 2 3

6 Using 3 of the Commandments 4-10 on loving neighbour, present what sort of person a Jew or Christian should be. Eg concerning the 8 th Commandment: “A Christian would be someone who always tries to find a way to speak the truth, because they know that this builds trust and strong friendships, as people know that they can believe you. They would avoid taking part in gossip, as they do not know if it is true. They would not say things to put others down, even for their own advantage.”

7 How “life-giving” and life-changing do you think the Commandments are? Could they ever stop being relevant (eg to modern life)?

8 The 10 Commandments are rules, not guides. Discuss. NO – they are also guides The rules do imply attitudes “honour…”, “do not desire..” This implies respect and greed, even if not named as such. So they are not a so much “rules” as attitude- changers They are specific about what to do – but they can be applied/ understood in different ways. Eg… YES – they are only rules They don’t mention attitudes like forgiveness or honesty. They are things God orders us to do/ not do. “You shall not…” So they are rules. They are very specific about how to behave – so they must be rules eg.. Overall, I think the Ten Commandments are rules/ guides because..
