Kinetix 3 Component Servo Drive
2
What is the Kinetix 3? The Kinetix 3 component servo drive:
A cost-effective motion control solution for smaller, low-axis count applications. Provides ability to apply the appropriate level of control for the application Offers models with output power as low as 50 Watts which allows tailoring of the axes to the actual power requirement Easily configurable with use of UltraWare, a free downloadable software

Kinetix 3: Benefits The right functionality at the right cost Compact design ideal for small machines requiring less that 1.5kW and up to N-m of instantaneous torque Indexer, Analog or Pulse train input as command interface Compatible with a wide range of motors and actuators including: TL-Series Motors, TLAR-Series Linear Actuators, LDL-Series and LDC-Series Linear Simple commissioning Reduces design and commissioning time with auto motor recognition, auto tuning, vibration suppression and built in indexing functions Easy to use and maintain Modbus-RTU serial communications simplify parameter setting at runtime and the lowest cost Speed up diagnostics and maintenance with the use of our free Ultraware software tool The Kinetix 3 is our first component class servo drive that can truly compete on a cost basis but still maintains the necessary features to win orders. The advanced features are easy to use. They will reduce design and commissioning time significantly and improve the user experience with this drive. Make the configuration simpler by using the automatic motor recognition for TL-Series rotary motors, TLAR-Series Linear Actuators, LDL and LDC-Series linear motors. Kinetix 3: Features Component Class Power Range 50W, 100W, 200W, 400W, 800W, 1kW, 1.5kW Communications RS-232 for Configuration or ASCII, RS-485 for Modbus-RTU Control Configuration through UltraWare - free downloadable software Performance 64 Index Points One-Parameter Tuning Vibration Suppression Automatic P/PI Gain Switch Five basic command modes Analog Current Position Follower (PTO) Preset Velocity Analog Velocity Indexing (over Modbus or Digital I/O) The Kinetix 3 is sized to fit the Micro- and Small- servo drive markets under 1.5 kW per axis. Future enhancements will further expand the Kinetix 3 reach. The drive works with out-of-the-box settings for most applications. If configuration is required, it can be performed using UltraWare, the same free tool that is used to configure the Ultra 1500. New advanced features allow for indexing functions, faster tuning, better settling time, and on-line vibration suppression. The drive can operate on a ‘Pulse Train’ reference command as an analog follower, using preset velocity or through the internal indexing feature. Indexing can be performed over Modbus or the Digital I/O, and it can be configured using an HMI, the built-in operator interface, or UltraWare. Copyright © 2010 Rockwell Automation, Inc. Note the big differences between the Ultra 1500 and the Kinetix 3: The analog monitor ports have been moved out of the I/O block, freeing up additional I/O. The serial communications ports use the 1394 pin-out, and new accessory cables have been made to accommodate them. The display is larger and easier to navigate.
