The general steps for finding PERCENT YIELD : * Write the balanced chemical equation * Find the limiting reactant * Find the theoretical yield (what you calculate with stoich) * Find the actual yield (what you get in the lab) * Find the percent yield Percent Yield = mass of Actual Yield x 100% mass of Theoretical Yield

Sample Problem: 30.0 grams of hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ) is decomposed using a catalyst, producing oxygen gas and water. 12.5 grams of oxygen is collected. Find the percent yield for this reaction. Write a balanced chemical equation Find the limiting reactant. Find the theoretical yield. Find the actual yield.Find the percent yield.

Sample Problem: 10.0 grams of lead(II) nitrate is combined with 20.0 grams of potassium iodide. If the reaction runs to 78% yield, what is the actual yield of lead(II) iodide? Write a balanced chemical equation Find the limiting reactant. Find the theoretical yield. Find the actual yield.Find the percent yield.
