4 Step 1: Convert the mass in grams to moles. mole H 2 O 1 g H 2 O 18.0 g H 2 O = 40.1 mol H 2 O 722

5 Step 2 Heat the ice from  211  C to its melting point of 0  C. q = mcΔT q = (722 g)(2.1 J/g∙  C)(0   (  211  C)) q = 3.20 x 10 5 J
