2 ORIGIN  Abraham: Founder of Judaism  19 th century B.C.E.  75 year old shepherd who lived in Ur, Mesopotamia  God came to him in a vision/dream  God wanted him to leave home and make a new land  Abraham agreed

3 HISTORY  1250 BCE: The Exodus – Hebrews were enslaved in Egypt  1000 BCE: King David unites and expands the kingdom  950 BCE: King Solomon builds the first temple in Jerusalem  586 BCE: Temple destroyed by Babylonians  428 BCE: A second temple made  70 CE: Second temple destroyed by Romans  200 CE: Mishnah codified
