John Dalton His Theory of the Atom Dalton’s Model of the Atom

Covered in this lesson This lesson reviews Dalton's Atomic Theory and explains each of the points. – Dalton is sometime called the “Father” of atomic theory.

Dalton’s Atomic Theory 1.Elements are made up of atoms (tiny particles). 2.Atoms of an element are identical and different from atoms of other elements. 3.Atoms can not be sub-divided created or destroyed. (Zumdahl, S. S. & Zumdahl, S. A., 2007)

Dalton’s Atomic Theory 4.Atoms in chemical compounds combine in specific ratios. 5. Atoms do not change in chemical reactions they rearrange to form new chemical compounds. (Zumdahl, S. S. & Zumdahl, S. A., 2007) Diagram Chemed.purdue.edu

Dalton’s Model of the Atom Dalton indicated atoms of an element have: 1.an atomic weight 2.a diameter 3.certain properties Dalton’s Model of the Atom

Dalton’s Atoms To the right is a picture of a table Dalton created to depict different atoms and molecules. (Diagram Wikepedia)
