During the Civil War (1861- 1865) Tubman served as a nurse, scout, and a spy During that War Tubman free more than 750 slaves Harriet Tubman was the moat fearless conductor of the undergound raildroad Harriets skull was fractured with a metalweight by a supervisor Because of Harriets injury she suffered blackouts

In her return to Maryland she helped liderate other slaves After the fugittive slave act it became a crime to help the runaway slaves She died in Aburn, New York
