1
The following is a possible suggestion of how to present your prosthetic hand You do not have to use this or could just use part of it – it is designed to help you set up your presentation
2
Make it your own! You can create your own titles for different sections Use your own pictures/colors/wording/etc. You could use powerpoint, keynote, prezi, google presentations, etc. Send you final presentation to your teacher BEFORE class presentations on Monday (not at the start of class – before!)
3
Name of Project Names of each team member and the role they have
4
Why are we doing this? Describe the reason we are looking at making affordable prosthetics – why is it important? Briefly introduce your client and others like your client that your prosthetic may help Include pictures (Marketer will hand out the pamphlet/brochure that they made to the panelist/teacher) Marketer
5
Prototype Design Explain how the prototype functions Explain the main tasks the prototype was designed to accomplish and how it does them Explain choice of materials used and what materials would be used for the actual prosthetic Include a detailed and labelled design sketch of your prototype Could also include a picture of you prototype Engineer
6
The Science (physics) behind the prototype Describe all of the forces involved in the movement of the prosthetic Explain where torque is applied and how it is used Use the evidence from our class experiments to support a part of your design choice (include data from lab as evidence) Include pictures to show the force/torque concept to the audience Physicist
7
Biomechanics of Hand compared with Prototype Compare and contrast how the human hand works with how your prosthetic design works Include pictures that have labels to compare the hand and the prosthetic (if chosen for panel – include the clay hand model) For full credit – have the audience try something with movement – For example – have them move their hand to show a biomechanics idea like we did when creating the clay hand models and finding muscles Biomechanical engineer
8
Marketing – demands of the client Clearly describe how your prototype design meets your clients needs Include example explanations or pictures of the tasks/needs Include and explain graphs/data from Math class about your client’s needs/country/etc. marketer
9
Marketing – materials and cost List the materials that your prosthetic would be made of (not what the prototype was made of) AND give the approximate cost of each part to find the total cost of the prosthetic design Include a Claim-Evidence-Reasoning argument to explain the choice of at least one of the materials used in the design marketer
10
Questions? (ask the audience if there are any questions) (thank them for their time)
11
Presentation tips (not a slide on the presentation) Dress professionally – no jeans, t-shirts, etc. Speak confidently and loud enough Look at the audience often (eye contact) Try not to read off of the slides! (could use notecards if you want to help you remember what to say) Use color and pictures to make presentation more interesting to view Keep a minimum (very few) words on the slide – It is a good presenting skill to actually SAY more than is written – it shows you now what you are talking about
12
Turn in Presentation Before class on TUESDAY – Send the final presentation to your teacher by email In the subject line of the email “ CPP Period # project name ” Teacher emails: – Donnelly: jacob.l.donnelly@adams12.orgjacob.l.donnelly@adams12.org – Dykstra: nic014314@adams12.orgnic014314@adams12.org – Leitshuh: Lei018364@adams12.orgLei018364@adams12.org – Schreiner: sch018066@adams12.orgsch018066@adams12.org – Thielke: william.j.thielke@adams12.orgwilliam.j.thielke@adams12.org
