Industrial Facilities that manufacture products. Class 1, 2 or 3 designation. Nonindustrial/Municipal Provide a service. No specific classification. Once a business has determined which of its waste are hazardous or not – they then need to have a look at their nonhazardous waste streams. See industrial vs non industrial handout #8 But, before this can be done, the business must determine if they are an industrial or a nonindustrial generator. Industrial generators make or manufacture a product for distribution. For example metal finishers and manufacturing plants are industrial. If the business simply supplies a “service” such as engine repair or dry cleaning, they are a nonindustrial or “municipal generator” If a business is industrial, they must further classify their nonhazardous waste as Class 1, Class 2 or Class 3. Class 1 - near haz waste from a facility that manufacturers or processes something. For example, a waste that TCLP’s for lead at 4.5 ppm would not be hazardous but it would be Class 1. Class 2- empty chemical containers, plant trash other than 1 or 3 Class 3- inert or insoluble waste - rock, brick, glass, uncontaminated SEE RG PG 7-11 FOR CLASS 1, CLASS 2, CLASS . Step 1: Common Waste Streams
Solvent May be hazardous (listed or characteristic). Use correct/consistent waste code. Consider disposal/recycling/reuse options. Waste Paint May be hazardous. Consider universal waste option.

Step 1: Empty Containers and Absorbents
Must meet definition of “RCRA Empty”. Requirements vary by container size & content previously held. Absorbents May be hazardous. Take on properties of what is cleaned up.

Send for recycling. Store properly. Grit Trap Waste May be hazardous. Train employees.

Texas Waste Code Formula 8-digit number assigned by generator. Sequence number (4-digit). Form code (3-digit). Classification (1 –digit) H, 1, 2, or 3. Used on NOR and manifest.

If you generate less than the amounts shown above, you are considered a CESQG and you are not subject to regulations requiring notification, manifesting, and fees.

Only In Texas The only type of CESQG that must obtain a Texas solid waste registration number is an Industrial CESQG that generates more then 220 lbs per month of class I industrial waste.. They must also report the class I industrial waste to the TCEQ on the Annual Waste Summary..
