2 Food The Iroquois tribe ate corn, beans, squash. This is known as the 3 Sisters because they were grown together. Women usually farmed the fields and cooked the meals. The men hunted wild game including deer, rabbit, turkey, bear, and beaver. Some meat was dried and stored for the winter. Hunting animals was important for food, but also for clothing. The Iroquois used skins and bones for making tools, clothing, and blankets.

6 Their clothing was made from tanned deerskin
Their clothing was made from tanned deerskin. The men wore leggings and long breechcloths while the women wore long skirts. Both men and women wore deerskin shirts or blouses.

7 There shoes were made from leather called moccasins.

9 The Iroquois lived in longhouses
The Iroquois lived in longhouses. These were large buildings that housed several families. They were made with wood frames and covered with bark. They were sometimes over 100 feet long. There were no windows in the longhouse, just a door at each end and holes in the roof to let out the smoke from cooking fires.
