Smoking Sue and Baby Too This doll is a little more complicated than my Smoking Sue I made last time, but still simple to make. You will need a doll with a removable head. Mine came from a charity shop, a bargain at £2.25 A baby to fit inside jar (not shown) Again, charity shop 50p Large jar, we used a coffee jar. Rubber or PVC tubing-use whatever you have available. Rubber stopper with hole (optional) for air vent. Hand pump, the type that is used for air sampling with drager tubes. This is going to be the most expensive part of your doll. You can get them cheaper on auction sites. In addition you will need a drill and either strong glue or a couple of nuts and bolts to attach head to jar lid.
2
Drill holes in back of the head and the mouth, the size will depend on the size of your tubing.
3
Mark out position on jar lid and use a drill to drill holes in the lid and dolls neck. Or use strong glue. Note: make sure dolls had is facing in the right direction when jar lid screwed back onto jar.
4
Head bolted to jar lid.

You will need to drill a hole for the tubing that will be pumping smoke into the bottom of the jar and a vent tube to let smoke out again. You can put a small rubber bung ( with hole) in the vent hole to prevent water pouring out if sue is tipped upside down.
6
Insert tubing though neck which must be long enough to reach the bottom of your jar when head attached. Attach bulb pump to one end of the tubing and push the other end of the pump tubing through the hole in the dolls head and out though its mouth as shown. This will allow the cigarette when smoked to suck the smoke from the dolls mouth down the tube, into the jar which is filled with water and your baby. The smoke will bubble though the water and leave a dirty brown residue floating on top of the water. Don’t change the water every time you use it. The residue will build up and be more noticeable after 3-4 cigarettes.
7
You can obviously leave the doll as a basic Smokie Sue … or ‘dress it up’
