The Nature Conservation Act 2014 The Nature Conservation Act 2014 is the primary ACT legislation for the protection and management of native plants and animals.

The new Act is the same in intent as the old Act. It has been modernised and extra roles for the Conservator have been provided...

Restructure of legislation Reserve Management Plans for wilderness areas, national parks and nature reserves have been moved out of the Planning and Development Act into the new Act

Conservator’s role -to develop and oversee policies, programs and plans for the effective management of nature conservation in the ACT -to monitor the state of nature conservation in the ACT - to provide information to the Commissioner for Sustainability and the Environment.
