Breaking up the Problem

Mind Map & Brainstorm People: Social creatures, that desire companions. Can be Selfish or sympathetic. Having biases against many things, including shelter animals Believe: Reality vs Dream. What some people believe may not always be truth. Shelter: Many negative connotations, such as lonely, abandoned, & behavour/medical issues. Pets: A companion and responsibility, not like an item to own in comparison to other consumer objects like electronics.

Mind Map & Brainstorm Negatives: In our sentence this is an important word because that’s how we feel other people see shelter animals. In a negative way. Compared: The main white space we are trying to cover is the inaccurate comparison between shelter animals and pet store/bred pets. Pet stores: Selling pets for profit, like a product. Compared to shelters, which save pets and are non-profit. Breeders: Also using animals to make more animals to make money. Can be inhumane in situations like puppy mills.

Back to Original Topic Sentence Animals from shelters are a better option compared to animals from stores and breeders. Our solution: Campaign to inform people about the myths of animal shelters and provide real facts.

Possible Solution Methods Show two dogs “can you tell which one is from a shelter?” Present myths and see what the audience thinks, then provide facts and statistics. Show images of animals in both situations Price comparison Statistics for Euthanization of pets. Provide something to not put down stores and breeders as much because they’re still animals that need loooove. Provide information on behavioural tests and other screening processes in shelters.
