Service-learning is a teaching method that combines service to the community with classroom curriculum. It is more than merely community service. It is a hands-on approach to mastering subject material while fostering civic responsibility.

Here Is where I spent most of my time. I love animals so this was really fun for me. I walked the dogs, helped visitors that were interested in adopting around, and cleaned anything that needed to be cleaned.
5
I just decided to take a picture with this mean bird that likes to bite people!! As You can see, I was far away from the cage. I didn’t want to get too close.
6
Just another snap shot with the dogs
7
Here I was walking the dogs. We were told just to take them out of their cages so they could get a little exercise. These puppies definitely got their exercise, and so did I !!
8
I got too close to the dog and he licked me in the eye!

This dog and I got along the best. Out of all the dogs I walked this one was the most cooperative. He was calm when I needed him to be and was playful and rambunctious when it was okay to be. I don’t know his name, but I just called him scruffy!
10
I got the chance to walk this dog. He’s such a sweet heart. It was hard not to get attached to him.
11
I took these two into the play room to have a little fun!!
12
When I saw those eyes I just had to get him out of that cage! Simply adorable.

I enjoyed my service learning experience. I had fun interacting with the animals at the animal shelter and meeting new people that worked or volunteered there. The hands-on work was definitely a challenge, but it was still an awesome experience. I would definitely go back to volunteer there again. I really enjoyed myself and got a lot out of it. After this experience I feel well rounded and more experienced.
