Setting the Stage Government Accountability Office (GAO) Report to Congress Findings –Cash grants for LRP stretches the food aid dollar and delivers aid faster –Cost Savings: Between 2001-2008 LRP in sub-Saharan Africa cost 34 percent less than similar in-kind food aid –More Timely: LRP delivered in 41 days vs. 147 days for in- kind food aid
