Design Draw a design to a smaller scale to get a overall view of the whole project.

Coiling copper wire Make 3 pairs of copper wire coils

Base Make a T shaped Base to put the generator and the turbine on to. The sorter size is for the generator, and longer for the turbine.

Cut a flywheel. Use 3 pieces of plywood joined together

Glue it together! Glue 2 rings and the small circle together. Put the small one in the middle, and the big rings on each side.

Making the generator Cut 2 small rectangular shapes in wood. These are used as a stand to hold the steel axle.

Making a coil stand Cut 3 pairs of triangular shaped pieces of wood to hold the copper wire coils.

Assembly Assemble your stands in the correct positions.

Drilling Drill the base and the pillars together.

Drilling Drill the base and the pillars together. So the turbine box can be attached

Now we have a strong and stable base.

Pillars and walls Drill in the pillars to the walls.

Now connect all the walls to each other and to the base.

This is how it looks after the walls and pillars are connected.

Making the turbine Cut 5 square pieces of wood

Glue it with a super glue and sandwich all 5 pieces of the square woods together. Now clamp the wood to have a firm and tight result.

After it dries, shape it in to a regular hexagon. Then drill holes in the mid point of each side, and also drill a hole in the centre.

Cut plastic bottles in half. Place them in each of the holes on the sides. Use a small piece of pipe to connect the bottle to the hole.

Place the axle and magnets on the generator board. Make sure the magnets are positioned between the copper wire coils

Now glue them with super glue.

Attach copper wire coils to the stands with tape, so you can make adjustments to the position of the coils.

Check electricity generated by each pair of coils. Drill small holes on the base to connect wires underneath.

Back to turbine box Cut Perspex to cover the open side of the wall. This enables the audience to see how the turbine rotates.

This is how it looks.

Paint the interior of the box with varnish, a water proof coating.

Attach the plastic pipe to the turbine.

Drill a hole on the wall to put in the plastic pipe thorough it.

Cut 2 pieces of woods to connect the two pillars.

Then drill it on both sides.

Glue bearings each side to reduce any friction. Insert the turbine between the bearings and close the Perspex. Attach the wheel on the back of the box.

Top lid Cut a piece of wood for a lid on the top to cover the box. Drill a whole for the water input.

Water bucket reservoir Drill a whole in the centre of the bucket. Then attach a short pipe to connect to the lid.

Final check Use a glue gun to close up any openings to prevent water from leaking.

Done! Pour water on the top, and let it flow down to the bucket underneath.
