3 SOME FACTS ABOUT TURTLES  Turtles are reptiles.  Turtles are cold blooded like all reptiles.  Turtles have existed for 215 million years.  Several species of turtles can live to be over a hundred years old.  Turtles live everywhere except Antarctica.  A turtle shell is 60 different bones connected together. 5 FUN FACTS ABOUT BOX TURTLES  Box turtles live in open woodlands, marshy meadows and pastures. They are often found by ponds and streams.  Eastern Box Turtles are terrestrial, which means they live on land.  Box turtles are omnivorous that means that they eat meat and plants.  They eat: insects, berries, fungi, slugs, worms, roots, flowers, fish, frogs, salamanders, snakes, and birds.  Lifespan: box turtles can life to over 100 years!  The box turtle mating season starts in spring goes through the summer and ends in October.
