Definitions: Cheerleading: A physical activity, sometimes a competitive sport, using organized routines, usually ranging from 1-3 minutes, which contain the components of tumbling, dance, jumps, cheers and stunting to direct spectators of events to cheer on sports teams at games or to participate in competitions. Stunting: Cheerleading stunts consist of three positions : flyer, bases, and back spot. The flyer is the person who performs the stunt, she is held up by the bases and/ or thrown up into the air. There is most often more than one base, determined by the difficulty of the stunt. The back-spot helps lift the flyer into the bases hands and helps lift and support the flyer. Tumbling: Gymnastics, such as somersaults, rolls, handsprings and tucks performed with the use of specialized apparatus.

5. Kinship Terms First Name: Individuals are called by their first names. Nicknames: A name that either the individual or the team has given them for a reason. Together: They are classified as Taylorsville Cheerleaders. They represent their school.

Behavior Rules –You will dress modestly –When in uniform, you can not have any male touching contact Hugs, kisses, holding hands etc. - You need above a 3.O GPA & CPA - You are only allowed four tardies every term. - Tardies include: - Being late to any activity -Texting during any activity - Boy contact in uniform - Not doing an assignment - Not listening - Being disrespectful - If you receive more than four tardies, you are on probation. At games you are expected to… - Stand shoulder width apart with your back towards the crowd until a cheer is called. - Wear the uniform assigned for the game, along with matching bow, and white tennis shoes. Socks cannot be seen, and braw-straps are pinned back. - Rally and yell cheers to get the crowd involved. - Be exciting and fun to watch. - Know all the cheers being called by the captain. - Smile!

9. Patterns : Learned Learning to be to practice at 6am every weekday Tumbling Rules Stunting Cheers: There are many different cheers you must learn: –Defense –Offense – Spirit cheers - You have to memorize the different words & motions for each individual cheer.

10. Patterns: Adaptive High school: High School is a big time for changes. It is strange, but you get used to it. Practice at 6 am: You adapt to waking up your body and practicing early. Attention: They adapt & get used to having the spotlight on them. They adapt to the new team members they will be with the whole year Diffusion appears when new people become cheerleaders with each passing year. Each year is different, meeting new people and getting older. Shared Cheering to a crowd: They keep the crowd entertained and keep the crowd involved. 13. Connections Behavior Religion = depending on ones religion. – For example, the head coach could influence the team to follow her ethical standards and beliefs. Kinship Political = The team needs to be treated as a whole. No matter what squad you are placed on, everybody wins or loses together in competitions and such. They are all considered Taylorsville cheerleaders no matter what. Kinship Learned patterns= With stunting & tumbling, there is a needed trust between the girls throwing (bases) and the girl in the air (flyer). She needs to know they will catch her. With tumbling, you need to be and feel safe. With both of these there can be serious injuries, so trust can definitely help a ton with that. Kinship Beliefs = Exogamy is normal in their subculture. Not at their age, but as they get older. Endogamy would be considered a taboo.
